These wall tributes are made from imported Baltic birch and are approximately 12" in diameter. It is hard to see in the picture, but they are actually made from four separate pieces of 1/8" thick wood for a stunning 3D effect. We start with a solid black back. Next, the outside "rope" design is glued to the back. The ring that says "United States Air Force" is glued to the back using 1/8" stand offs so that it sticks out from the "rope". The letters and stars are actually cut out of the wood so that you are seeing the black back -- they are not printed letters and symbols. Finally, the last piece with the service emblem is glued to the back using 1/4" standoffs so that it is elevated from the outer ring. Again, the black that you see in the picture is actually the black background piece that you are seeing through the areas that are cut out of the wood. No ink, paint, etc. is used to create the letters, symbols, text, etc. The thin, brown lines are actually burned into the wood using a laser so that no detail is lost -- no matter how small.

When completed, the tribute is a generous 1/2" thick and comes complete with a notch cut on the back for wall hanging so it is ready to hang. Please note that all tributes are stained one color (as seen in the Air Force picture) and not two toned as seen in some of the other pictures.
